Ramadan Mubarak

2022, April

Intro to Ramadan

This year, 2022, and this month, April, is when we start fasting. April 2nd is the starting of Ramadan and May 1 is Eid-Al Fitr a.k.a Eid. Fasting is when you take a break from food and water. The different types of fasting are fasting from food, water and speaking. If you are 9 and above, you cannot miss one day of fasting. We start fasting from dawn and end at dusk.

We eat before dawn so that we can keep fasting without getting too hungry. This late night food is called Sehri. Sehri is when you wake up at 4am and eat something. It can be anything you want! You can have as little or as much as you want. But you cannot have anything from 5am and after.

My story

So far I fasted all the days of Ramadan except 3 or 4. The first day I was on my tab the whole day. Most of the time I was restless. Then it got better. So it was good overall.

I felt really hungry over the days. When I was at school, weirdly I wasn’t hungry. My friends Abdullah, Elyas and his brother Alaser were fasting too. Thats why I got to play with them at lunchtimes. It was a pretty good experience, Actually.

Most of the time I get hungry but it comes out as a stomachache. But I am trying, so that is what matters. I mean what if I didn’t try?

Anyways, most of the time I am on my computer, watching videos. Don’t blame me, I am hungry! Besides, I also get restless.

I don’t linger in the kitchen anymore. Sometimes I read books, most of the time I am on my computer. I have a schedule now, so I don’t really have much time to build lego. Half the toys I have are in a big box in my closet. I don’t want to open it because I’ll have to clean my room, and that one weakness of mine. Plus it’ll take energy away from me, and I don’t want that to happen while I am fasting.

Going on the computer is the only thing that I can do without spending energy. I just wish that I could play with my friends online. That would be perfect, as I don’t have much to do at home.

So it was great and I am continuing to fast, as well as watching videos on my computer. I also have to experience that stomachache sensation when I am hungry. But on the good side, I am trying to do my best as a Muslim, which might give me good points. Plus, fasting makes my day go by faster, and I really don’t like to wait for my birthday. Honestly, I like fasting but I don’t like like it.

If you are wondering why we fast, we do it to feel what the homeless, hungry people feel in some hot – climate countries.
