Mexico 2023 – The Beginning

Day 1: November 9th, 2023

7:30am – I woke up. Not because I wanted breakfast, but rather because I didn’t want to miss our flight. I was starving, but that was the least important thing on my mind at the time. We had to get out of the house at 11am but we hadn’t even STARTED packing yet.

My dad was still conked out, as he had slept pretty late, but my mom was up, and I waited for her while playing sudoku. At this point it was pretty much 8 so I was nervous and, like, running around the house, even though half the people there were sleeping. Oh, and my Uncle had come the previous day so there were six people in the house, and four were still sleeping.

My whole family knew how paranoid I was and respected that, but that day I was way over the limit. My mom calmed me down and we finally started packing at about 8:15.

8:30am – We were about a quarter of the way to finishing packing when I realized that I was really hungry. I went downstairs to get myself some breakfast, and when I came back up the luggage was half filled. We had two luggages to fill so I was crazy nervous and sped up so much that by 8:45 one luggage was filled up. The second luggage took about half an hour so it was 9:15 by the time we finished. My mom then told me to shower.

9:30am – I was all ready to go to the airport, even though there was one and a half hours left until 11. I scrolled on my computer, played sudoku (again), and did other dumb things that a hyper 10 year old would do. I honestly didn’t know where to go or what sensible thing to do so I… was lost.

By this time it was about 10:00 and I was thinking why does time have to go slower when ur bored and go faster when ur having fun curse you Einstein the world would be a better place if you hadn’t said that. I just wanted to run out of the house and go to the airport by my self and was thinking forget about time lemme get out of here already! I thank myself for having these thoughts because by this time it was 10:30.

10:30am – Half an hour and we’re out! At this point I was so excited that I asked my dad if I could play basketball on the driveway and he said yes so I thought yes and ran out the door into the open. It felt so good, but I wasn’t there to play basketball but rather to look for our Uber, although I did dribble around a lot. I didn’t want to go back inside but I already had the flu and didn’t want to make it any worse. It was 11am by this time and there was a flip disco party going on inside my head.

Finally, just FINALLY, our Uber came. As my friend was going with me we were carpooling so I saw her inside the car. She is 4, by the way. We got inside and were off.

11:30am – At the airport at last. Relief washed over me, but there was a HUGE problem. We had to walk roughly 600-800 meters to get to the check-in counter and I was so annoyed that I decided to just take a ride on my luggage, using it as one of those bikes that need you to push it with your legs.

Ouch.

Ouch.

Ouch.

Ouch.

Ouch.

Yeeeeeeoooooowwww!

My legs were so tired by the time we got to the counter that I nearly collapsed. I wanted to SIT, and there was literally nothing to sit on. I sat on the windowsill of the airport’s massive windows. Good idea. I was basically getting free massages whenever a plane was starting to taxi. It was relaxing.

Unfortunately, we just had to leave the check-in counter. We went through security, and that took some time. Somehow, I had already started to get hungry, even though it was only 12:15.

We reached a restaurant at 12:20, and to be honest? I really didn’t care if we were going to eat lamb or whatever, my brain was dead.

12:30 – NOM NOM NOM. I was fantasizing of eating. I had ordered a classic burger and a strawberry shake. While I was lost in thought, another “friend” showed up. We were traveling with him, and he bugged me to a point where I was about to explode. Luckily, my food arrived at that exact same time.

I was relieved of my hunger, and finished my food in an hour. While eating, I saw what could have been the last Boeing 747 ever. It was an aviation fan’s dream. And just in case you didn’t know, I myself am an aviation fan.

1:30 – It was nearly boarding time, but I didn’t know that. I was busy eating my cheese danish, savouring every bite. It was sooooooo goooooood. And just like that, it was boarding time, at 1:45pm.

2:00 – On the plane at last. We were taxing. And we took off at 3:00.

Air Transat TS426 A321LR YYZ-CUN November 9th 2023 – These are our flight specs, just in case. Anyways, the flight overall was a 8/10. I took two away because they didn’t give any food. I watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The movies I would rate 9.69420/10.

6:30pm – Touchdown. Mexico, here we are. We were apparently 30 minutes early, so we had to wait. When we got into the airport, we did immigration then it was to the bus.

Another ride on a bus, well that took us 2 hours. Getting to the resort was tiring. By the time we reached it was 10:30pm local. When we got to our room, it was goodbye world and hello sleep.

Day 2: November 10th, 2023

9:30am – I woke up to a Mexican sun. It was burning, way too bright. But that was the least of my worries at the time. I asked my mom if I could wear my swimming gear to breakfast, as I planned to dive straight into the pool after breakfast.

As soon as I went in the restaurant, I realized that it had everything that a Canadian hotel would have. I made a beeline to the pancakes as soon as I saw them, and another to the fruit loops when I saw them.

10:30am – Into the pool I went. Ew, it was dirty with a capital d. Didn’t mind too much, though. AS long as the pool had chlorine, I’m comfortable doing flips and handstands and other acrobatics in the pool. Oh ya, I am an underwater acrobatics fan if you didn’t know.

1:30pm – Out of the pool I went. It was fun while it lasted, but it was time for lunch. Getting showered, I went to the next buffet, and when I was done I went to my friend’s room. Hide and Seek was her favourite, but to be honest I was getting really tired of it, and tired with a capital T.

2:30pm – I didn’t know what I was supposed to do, soooooooo…

3:30pm – Resting in my room is not my idea of fun. I quickly escaped my room and went down to the beach. Throwing rocks is my idea of fun. I felt kinda exposed to the open sea, but my dad said the water was from the gulf of Mexico.

4:30pm – Back to my friend’s room. At 5pm I went back down to the beach.

5:30pm – I noticed some squirrel-like things. They were called Agoutis. Cute, but part of the rat family. No thank you. Eh, I just went into full chillax mode.

6:30pm – Our group walked around the resort, exploring every nook and cranny. This place was HUGE! I swear, it would take a map to get around. A flippin’ map!

9:30pm – Dinner was ok. We counted stars, and I found the three sisters constellation. It was amazing here.

10:30pm – Goodbye world. Hello Sleep.
